TSC and Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Office (URCA) offer research workshops to help students take advantage of the UCSB library's enormous resources and get involved with faculty to conduct undergraduate research, a signature of the UCSB experience. Transfers can study abroad!  Throughout the year TSC and Education Abroad Program (EAP) provides workshops to introduce transfers on how they can participate in one of UC’s hundreds of study abroad opportunities and connect UCDC and UC Sacramento which connect students to internship-study possibilities.

  • Offers advice and problem-solving related to housing in the Isla Vista, Goleta, and Santa Barbara areas.

Housing Navigators

  • Housing Navigators can help with general questions about housing insecurity, finding housing options, help with applying for housing, and supporting individuals experiencing housing insecurity.

Financial Crisis Response Team

  • Assists students facing financial crisis or urgent housing need.

Isla Vista Tenants Union

  • Empowers IV tenants by educating them on their rights and responsibilities, as well as advocating on their behalf in the case of rental conflicts.

Isla Vista Community Services District

  • Provides free, neutral housing mediation for the Isla Vista community to create a culture of mutual respect and understanding between all members of our community while ensuring housing security for all.

Loan Options

  • AS Emergency Loans: short-term, interest-free loans up to $600 per quarter with a 30-day repayment period.
  • Office of Financial Aid Short-Term Loans: Emergency short-term loans that allow students to receive an advancement of their pending Financial Aid.

Grant Options

  • AS/EOP Grants: funds for unusual educational-related expenses for students enrolled in the Educational Opportunity Program. Must reach out to an EOP Counselor to apply.
  • AS Community Financial Fund Grant: offers quarterly Financial Literacy Workshops to all students. Participants may receive $200 upon completion.
  • Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education Emergency Fund: assists survivors of domestic violence by connecting them to campus and community resources, as well as maintaining an Emergency Advocacy Fund to aid survivors dealing with unexpected financial burdens.

  • Gives students purchasing power when shopping for groceries. Qualifying students receive monthly grocery budget benefits.

UCSB Food Pantries

  • The AS Food Bank (University Center) and the Miramar Food Pantry (Sierra Madre Villages) provide students with free food resources and toiletries.

Cafe Picasso

  • Offers community members a free home-cooked brunch and group to gather with every Sunday at St. Michael's University Church in IV.

Food Not Bombs

  • Volunteer organization prepares vegan and vegetarian dinners for the IV community every Sunday from 5:20-6:30 pm at Little Acorn Park.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

  • CAPS assists the student body in achieving academic, social, and personal success through a diverse range of mental health services.

Social Work Services

  • Confidential service that connects students to a social worker who can address potential obstacles to students' success and develop a comprehensive plan to overcome them.
