Drop-in Advising for the College of Letters and Science transfer students is located in North Hall 2110. You may speak to an advisor in person or join the "Same Day Transfer Advising Queue" on QLess.

- Monday, Thursday, Friday: 9:00 – 11:30 am, 1:00 – 3:30 pm
- Tuesday, 9:30 –11:30 am, 1:00 – 3:30 pm
- Wednesday: 1:00 – 3:30 pm
Once you join the QLess line, you'll receive texts with expected wait time and regular updates about your place in line. We'll call you once you reach the front of the line. Advisors may be calling from a blocked number, so make sure your phone can receive blocked calls.

Jami Chavez
Lead Transfer Academic Advisor
Jami Chavez has a BA in Sociology from UCSB and a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Cal Lutheran University. She has worked at UCSB for over 16 years in various departments, including the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and now in the College of Letters & Science Academic Advising office. In addition to working with transfer students in the TSC, she also works closely with non-traditional and veteran students. When not at work, Jami enjoys spending time and camping with her husband and three children.
Juan Barrera Alcazar
Academic Advisor
Juan is a first-generation college graduate and is currently in his third year in the doctoral program in education at the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, UC Santa Barbara. He attended Long Beach City College before transferring to UC Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Education in 2018. Juan joined the UC Santa Barbara campus in 2019, where he has worked as an academic advisor in the College of Letters and Science and works closely with transfer students. Juan's research is focused on academic probation and student retention using critical frameworks.
Mica Bermudez
Academic Advisor
Micaela (Mica) is a first-generation, non-traditional, and transfer college graduate from UCSB. She is from Santa Rosa, CA in the North Bay Area. She is passionate about helping traditionally underserved students and supporting their academic success. Mica was a former Peer Educator at the Transfer Student Center and mentor in the Transfer Student Mentoring Program. She has undergraduate research experience in the Psychological and Brain Sciences Department examining self-efficacy beliefs and belonging among first-generation college students, and the Transfer Student Mentoring Program. Mica is dedicated to supporting, mentoring, and motivating college students. She serves as a full-time advisor in the TSC. In her free time, Mica enjoys exploring new places with her daughter, spending time with her family and friends, watching sports (favorite sport is basketball), journaling, reading, and dancing.
Michaela Madden
L&S Transfer Peer Academic Advisor
Michaela Madden is a fourth-year transfer student pursuing a BA in Sociology with the goal of working in the community college system either as a professor or college counselor. She loves working with students and learning about their educational journeys. When she isn’t at the TSC or on campus you can catch her walking to Sands Beach to catch the sunset or cooking it up in the kitchen. She also loves reading anything romance or mystery along with exploring new hikes around the area. Some of her favorite spots on campus are Bren Hall’s patio, the Lagoon, and the Campus Green.
Brianna Madrigal
L&S Transfer Peer Academic Advisor
Brianna is a 4th year transfer student from Rio Hondo College who is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and plans to pursue a career in College Counseling. Additionally, being that she is a first-generation student, she is motivated to give back to her community and give first-generation students similar support that she received to excel in higher education. At UCSB, she continues to be as involved as she can in extracurriculars and campus life like the Reality UCSB Film Club and UCSB Dawg Days Club. Brianna's hobbies include sports videography, fostering shelter dogs, going to baseball games, working out, and spending quality time with friends.
